<p>Als Eltern und Erziehende setzen wir ständig Zeitlimits. Doch was, wenn diese Regeln genau das Gegenteil bewirken? Dieses Video beleuchtet, warum Zeitlimits den Reiz von &#8222;verbotenen&#8220; Aktivitäten wie Gaming oder Fernsehen sogar noch erhöhen können.</p>
<p>Eine einflussreiche Studie von Michal Maimaran und Yuval Salant (&#8222;The effect of limited availability on children&#8217;s consumption, engagement, and choice behavior&#8220;) liefert dazu erstaunliche Erkenntnisse.</p>
<p>Das LEGO-Experiment aus der Studie:<br />
Forscher gaben zwei Gruppen von Kindern Legos zum Spielen.</p>
<p>&#8211; Gruppe 1 durfte ohne Zeitlimit spielen.</p>
<p>&#8211; Gruppe 2 wurde gesagt, sie dürfe nur 10 Minuten spielen.</p>
<p>Das Ergebnis: Die Kinder mit dem Zeitlimit spielten im Durchschnitt deutlich länger (494 Sekunden) als die Kinder ohne Limit (390 Sekunden). Die Erklärung der Forscher: Die Begrenzung wertete die Aktivität auf und steigerte das Verlangen.</p>
<p>Doch was sind bessere Strategien als ständige Zeitlimits?<br />
Anstatt sich in Machtkämpfen um Minuten zu verlieren, gibt es aus Sicht der Erziehungspsychologie sinnvolle Alternativen:</p>
<p>&#8211; Verfügbarkeit reduzieren: Muss die Spielekonsole oder ein Fernseher im Kinderzimmer stehen?</p>
<p>&#8211; Digitale Umgebung kuratieren: Statt alle Apps zu erlauben und dann zu begrenzen, können auf Tablets und Smartphones von vornherein nur ausgewählte Inhalte installiert werden.</p>
<p>&#8211; Positive Alternativen fördern: Gemeinsame Aktivitäten und attraktive Offline-Angebote können die Faszination von Bildschirmen auf natürliche Weise reduzieren.</p>

<p>Eine neue Studie legt nahe, dass es je nach Altersstufe einen großen Unterschied macht, welche der beiden Antwortalternativen zuerst genannt wird. Denn Kinder sind aufgrund ihres sich noch in der Entwicklung befindenden Gehirns (und damit auch Arbeitsgedächtnisses) bis zu einem gewissen Alter gar nicht in der Lage, sich an die erstgenannte Option zu erinnern.</p>
<p>Wer diesen Effekt nicht kennt, läuft Gefahr, sein Kind immer wieder unbewusst zu ungesunden Verhaltensweisen zu verleiten&#8230;</p>

<p>Die Forscher kommen zu dem Schluss, dass Erziehungs-Trainings, in denen natürliche bzw. logische Konsequenzen gelehrt worden waren, im Durchschnitt deutlich effektiver waren. <p>Um Kinder also nicht unnötig zu pathologisieren, sollten wir sehr genau darauf achten, wie unsere Fragen formuliert sind. Denn je nach Formulierung können sehr unterschiedliche Gedankengänge angestoßen werden.</p>
