In vielen Darstellungen ist die Göttin der Gerechtigkeit (Justitia) mit einer Augenbinde dargestellt.

Damit soll zum Ausdruck gebracht werden, dass vor dem Gesetz alle Menschen gleich sind – unabhängig von ihrer gesellschaftlichen Stellung oder ihrem Aussehen.
